Alex Polovinchik
Alex Polovinchik is a partner of our firm and its Principal.
He has handled extensively tax and accounting matters in a wide variety of subjects. His expertise encompasses individual, corporate and partnership tax compliance and planning, all types of federal and state tax disputes and controversies, as well as domestic and international business transactions and dispositions.
Mr. Polovinchik earned his Master of Business Administration in Accounting from the National University in 1997. He received his CPA license in California in 1999. He also earned his Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and was a lecturer of Intermediate, Cost and Managerial Accounting at the National University from 1999 until 2002.
Nikolai Novak
Nikolai Novak graduated from California State University Northridge in 2007 earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy from the College of Business and Economics. During his education Nikolai interned at The Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Accounting department in 2005 specializing in investment accounting with a focus on the company’s derivative activities. Nikolai Novak began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC in 2007 specializing in international tax compliance and large investment partnership taxation. Nikolai dealt with partnership allocation, FDAP, ECI, and UBTI tax issues in additional to taxation of investment in U.S. Real Property by foreign individuals; sovereign wealth funds and tax-exempt investors.
In 2010, Nikolai joined his largest client Oaktree Capital Management LP a private equity firm lead by renowned investor Howard Marks. Nikolai’s new role consisted of managing tax issues of both equity stakeholders within the firm and investors. Nikolai reviewed various partnership and corporate tax returns while serving as the tax liaison between the accounting firms, the deal teams, and the legal, the compliance, the marketing and the investor relation departments. In 2013 Nikolai joined PF&N Accounting Solutions to grow the practice and the brand with a focus of client service established by the founders Alex Polovinchik and Max Frid back in 1999.
Max Frid
Max Frid is a partner of our firm and its Principal. He has over fifteen years of experience in tax and accounting. Mr. Frid began his career with a Big Four international public accounting firm. Subsequently, he was a corporate finance manager in the headquarters of the Walt Disney Company. Mr. Frid’s expertise includes all types of federal and state tax disputes and controversies, mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, research, compliance and consulting services.
A significant part of Mr. Frid’s practice focuses on wholesale and retail distribution, manufacturing, professional services, real estate and technology. He also leads our real estate construction practice. Mr. Frid received his CPA license in California in 1999 and is graduating from Golden Gate University, Master of Science in Taxation program.
